GG, will you accept this rose?

GG came for a visit and we had the best time, as always!  We wanted to take some cute pics outside and thought my neighbor's rose bush would be the perfect backdrop!

Pearce looked so cute in this outfit GG got him from Cracker Barrel!  I never knew they had baby/ kid's clothes until Pearce came....she has gotten him the cutest things from there!

Doesn't Pearce look so sad in this picture?!  Don't worry, GG did accept the rose :)  He didn't quite know what to think about the grass and the bright sun!

GG spoils Pearce to no end!  She told me she thought Pearce needed something to keep him safe and contained when he started crawling.  So we looked online and found this play yard.  She ordered it on Sunday and it came on Thursday!  I love that it has an activity center attached and it's cute, too!  This turned out to be a really great find because now all of his toys are contained in one area and he has plenty of room to roll around!  He has just loved playing in it.  You can even order extensions to make it bigger!  Notice the stacks of nicely folded laundry in the background.  Ever since GG left, the other laundry has stayed in either the hamper or the dryer :(

Otis always loves a nice, soft arm to lay on.

GG loved doing "tummy time" with Pearce :)  She got him a new remote control that he loves!

Happy baby!

GG was not happy to leave this sweet boy.  I was not happy to see my babysitter, laundry folder, floor mopper, and shopper leave either :(   We love  you GG!!!!

6 month stats

We took Pearce to the doctor this morning for his 6 month check-up.  The nurse asked me all kinds of questions about if Pearce is doing this and that....like babbling, grabbing, putting weight on his legs, sitting up, napping.  I was able to answer YES to all of the questions!  Dr. Sperling came in and talked to us about starting solids and answered any other questions we had.  She is sooo nice!  She's young...probably right around my age.  She just talked and talked to Pearce and he cooed right back at her...while sucking his thumb!  Then she picked him up and talked a little more to him and then did her exam.  She commented about what a happy baby he is.  That made me so proud!  She said he was perfect and of course, Chris and I agreed :)  Then it was time for his set of shots :(  The nurse gave them to him and he cried pretty hard, but as soon as I picked him up, he stopped.  He just sniffed for a little while.  Poor little guy!  He was brave though.  Chris went to work and we headed home.  Pearce fell asleep after that and took a good nap. I am so incredibly thankful for a healthy, happy baby!!

6 month stats:  18 lbs, 3 oz (75th percentile)
                           27 inches long (60th percentile)
                                               Head circum. 43 1/2 cm (70th percentile)

I love this baby boy so much, it almost makes my heart hurt!

6 months old!

Pearce, you are 6 months old today!

Your 5th month has been so much fun!  You have the CUTEST personality.  You sometimes cry if I leave the room!  At first, I thought it was the sweetest thing ever....now it makes it a little harder to get things done :)  You are on a very consistent nap schedule.  You wake up between 7-8.  Play for 2 hours, then you start to get fussy, so I put you back in your sleep suit, rock you for a few minutes, and you are OUT for at least 2 hours!  Then we play some more or run errands and you'll take another 2 hour afternoon nap.  You also take a shorter evening nap before dinner.  I put you to bed around 9:00 and you sleep all night!  A couple times this month, you would cry in the middle of the night.  I ignore you if I can :)  If your cries get louder and longer, I go in your room and put your paci back in your mouth and you always fall back asleep.

These are things I want to remember about your 5th month:
*We go to the doctor tomorrow, so I'll get your official stats then.
*You wore size 2 diapers until last week when they started leaking, so now you are in size 3 Luvs.
*You can still wear some of your 3-6 month size clothes, but you're pretty much in size 6 months and some 6-9 month clothes.
*Size 1 shoes.
*You have 7 ounces of formula at a time.
*You began eating baby oatmeal at 5 1/2 months.  At first you had no idea what to do with it, but you have gotten the hang of it now!  We'll start purees soon!
*You still drool all the time!
*EVERYTHING goes in your mouth!
*You learned how to sit up by yourself (5 1/2 months) while we were at the beach!  You love to sit up now!
*You have an inflatable bathtub where you can sit up.  You love to splash and suck on the wash cloth.
*You still spit up a lot. I'm hoping that will ease up once you start eating purees.

"Mommy, no more pictures!  Ok, one more...."

"Here ya go!  Now are we finished?"

Pictures and a poem...

Mother's Heart
I loved you from the very start,
You stole my breath, embraced my heart.
Our life together has just begun,
You're part of me my little one.

As mother with child, each day I grew,
My mind was filled with thoughts of you.
I'd daydream of the things we'd share,
Like late-night bottles and teddy bears.

Like first steps and skinned knees,
Like bedtime stories and ABC's.
I thought of things you'd want to know,
Like how birds fly and flowers grow.

I thought of lessons I'd need to share,
Like standing tall and playing fair.
When I first saw your precious face,
I prayed your life be touched with grace.

I thanked the angels from above,
And promised you unending love.
Each night I lay you down to sleep,
I gently kiss your head and cheek.
I count your little fingers and toes,
I memorize your eyes and nose.

I linger at your nursery door,
Awed each day I love you more.
Through misty eyes, I dim the light,
I whisper "I love you" every night.

I loved you from the very start,
You stole my breath, embraced my heart.
As mother and child our journey's begun,
My heart's yours forever my little one.

Pearce's First Food!

Pearce, are you ready for some baby oatmeal?

Yesterday, we gave Pearce his first taste of baby oatmeal!  We put him in his bumbo seat on the kitchen table...he can't sit in his high chair just yet.  At first he made the funniest face!  He did not know what to think about it.  The oatmeal was a very thin consistency and it would just drip out of his mouth!  But after several spoonfuls, he started to get the hang of it.  Most of it did end up on his bib, but he kept wanting more.  He was able to swallow some, so I would say his first attempt at solids was a success!  What's funny is that he kept looking out the window, too!  We'll stick to the baby oatmeal for a while and then start the process of introducing "real" food!

He really loved it when we just gave him the spoon to chew on!
