2 Year Well-Check

On January 27th, Pearce had his 2 year well-check with Dr. Sperling.  When I told him he was going to the doctor, he got so excited and immediately asked "Shot?"  But not in a worried type of way....in an excited way :)  I got Pearce looking all cute and off we went to the doctor.  When we got called back, and Pearce had to get weighed and measured.  First, he had to stand next to the wall and have the measuring thing come down to the top of his head...this is the first time he got his height taken this way.  My good little boy just stood there and let the nurse get the measurements.  She said most 2 year olds get scared and cry.  Then Pearce had to stand on the scale to get weighed.  I told him to stand on the scale and put his hands down by his side....he did it perfectly!  Then we went to the exam room to wait for Dr. Sperling.  When she came in, I told Pearce to say hi to Dr. Sperling and Pearce said "Hi dotor Perying."  Pearce was so good letting her look in his eyes, ears, nose and mouth.  She asked if he was saying more than 50 words...YES!  Was he able to put two words together....oh yes...full sentences now!  Does he take a nap for at least 1 hour...ummmm, try 3 hours!  She also said he is probably ready to go to a big boy bed.....ummmmm....don't think so.  I want Pearce to stay in his crib for probably another year if possible.  He's just such a good sleeper and I know he is safe in his crib.  So, he had a great check up and no shot...sorry Pearce!  When we left he said "Bye Bye Dotor!"

Pearce's 2 year stats

Happy 2nd Birthday, Pearce!

On Saturday, January 25th, Pearce turned 2!  I always knew we would have another "family" party for Pearce just like we did last year....I just didn't know we would have a specific theme.  Ever since Mama and Papa introduced Pearce to Toy Story during Christmas, that is all Pearce has talked about!  Chris got him all 3 movies and he would watch them all the time if we let him...Toy Story 3 is his favorite!  He would talk about Buzz and Woody and how they fell in the trash can.  I had already ordered him a shirt to wear with an airplane on it and I just thought I would bake a cake myself and let Nathan and Charlotte help me decorate it and then just get basic birthday decorations.  Then it hit me....do a Toy Story bday party!  So, Pearce and I went to the party store and got a ton of Toy Story decorations and then I ordered a Buzz and Woody cake from HEB and we were all set.  I decorated on Thursday night and when Pearce saw the decorations on Friday morning....he was just in Heaven!  He said "Oh wow!  Oh boy!"  So Friday evening all of our family came over to have pizza.  Pearce just loved having everyone here...especially his cousins Robert, Allie, Nay Nay, and Charlotte.  Saturday morning, Chris and I went to wake Pearce up.  The night before we had all blown up balloons and put them in his room so that he would see them when he woke up.  Well, we were so excited to wake Pearce up....then we saw that at some point he had thrown up all in his bed!  Poor little guy!!  He was in great spirits though....maybe he just ate too much the night before.  Who knows!  Everyone came back over and we headed over to a park to let the kids play.  Then we at lunch at Chick-fil-a and brought Pearce back for his nap.  He woke up around 5:00 and that's when the party got started!  Pearce got to open his presents and man, did he have a lot of presents!  He got a Daniel Tiger doll from us, Buzz and Woody dolls plus the Toy Story 3 action figures from Auntie Ashy and Auntie Jen, a Jr. Zookeeper outfit from Mama and Papa that is sooo adorable, a bulldozer and a Thinkery membership from Pops and Mimi, money from Papa and Mama, a play kitchen from GG that is soooo cute, and kitchen accessories from GG and Mama and Papa.  He is all set!  After we opened presents the kids all played and Chris worked on getting our dinner ready.  He made hand ground burgers, hot dogs, and homemade beans.  YUMMY!!!  After dinner, we were ready for cake and ice cream.  Pearce was so cute sitting in the chair just looking at his cake...sneaking little licks of the icing :)  When we started singing to him, he just smiled and smiled and then blew out his candle!  We had a wonderful birthday weekend and there is absolutely no doubt that Pearce is one loved little boy!  I am just appreciative that our family chooses to make the effort to travel in order to celebrate our Pearce.  He is soooo lucky!  Now for pictures!

We had to get a birthday haircut first!

Pearce adores Nay Nay!  I mean, ADORES him.  Nathan is always so sweet and helpful and such a good helper with Pearce.  When Nathan and Charlotte left, Pearce was pretty much devastated.  It really broke my heart!  When they drove off, he just cried and cried.  Then I was holding him and Pearce said, "Mommy, Nay Nay loves you?  I said, "Oh yes, Nay Nay loves you so much."  Then Pearce started crying again saying "Nay Nay loves you."  When he woke up from his nap on Sunday, he asked for Nay Nay :(

Nay Nay was so excited to lose his first tooth!

Cheers to my baby boy turning 2!

This and That

First of all, I can't believe we are 10 days away from this little guy being 2!!!!!  Oh my goodness.  The preparations have begun!  I had no idea Pearce would be soooo into Toy Story, but he happened to watch it during Christmas at Mama and Papa's house, and man, he has not stopped talking about Buzz and Woody!  Needless to say, he is now going to have a Toy Story party!  More on that later.  We have been very busy and I just wanted to put a few random pics up.  These first two might just be my new favorites of Pearce.  First of all, I think he looks ADORABLE in these little overalls Mama got him. Second of all, that balloon is STILL floating around our house...he got it last weekend from Old Navy when we went to get him new pants.  He LOVES that balloon.  Third of all, I just love it when he first wakes up and his eyes are a little puffy.  This was his first day back to school and we were up early to get all ready!  Pearce hardly ever stands still for me to actually take his picture, but on this morning, he cooperated and I just think he looks so dang cute!!!!!

Last week we went to The Toybrary for finger painting.  I thought Pearce would love it, but he really didn't go crazy with it.  He painted a bit, but then was finished, asked to wash his hands, and was off to play :)  I think he would have liked it better with a paint brush.  I think it's so cute how Pearce likes to sleep on his tummy with his knees all tucked under him...and BB in his mouth :)  I was blessed with one great sleeper.  I mean, this boy LOVES to sleep.  Not only that, but he is so content to just BE in his crib.  He will lay in there and play and talk for 30 minutes or more if I let him.  Last night, he went to bed at 6:30 (The Golden Globes were on!) and I had to wake him up at 8:30.  This past weekend, we were all lazy and Pearce ended up sleeping until 9:45ish!!!  That is very rare, but he honestly does not wake up on his own until at least 8:00, but usually 8:30.....and still takes at least a 3 hour afternoon nap and sometimes 4 if I don't wake him up!

We had a fun play date with Claire and her mommy, Heather.  Claire is sooo sweet and really lets me hold her now.  Pearce had no problems playing babies with Claire, but really loved this sand table Heather brought out!  The sand is a different type of sand where it actually sticks together and doesn't get everywhere like regular sand.  Really cool!  We've also had fun playing outside.  I had to tell our lawn guy, Mr. Dennis, that we have a new lawn guy now :)

And finally.....Pearce loves to give all of us check ups and especially shots!  We may have a future doctor in the making...he loves his medical kit, loves going to the doctor, and LOVES taking medicine!  Pearce had a bad sinus infection a week ago and had to take a strong and bad tasting antibiotic.  He's always been really good about taking any other medicine so I worried this was going to be a 10 day struggle....NOPE!  Mama told me to just make sure I give him an M&M for taking the medicine each time...well, that was all it took!  He did his antibiotic and nose spray each day like a champ!
