Our Fun Weekend

This past weekend was so fun!  I've been wanting to take Pearce to the Austin Rodeo and Saturday was the last day, so we went!  My friend, Virginia and her little girl, Stella went with us, too.  We didn't actually see a rodeo, just went to ride the rides and see the animals, and eat junk food, of course :)  This was our first time ever going, so I wasn't too sure what to expect.  It really was just like a fair.  It was pretty hot, and my only regret is that I didn't bring the stroller.  Pearce would walk some, but everything was pretty spread out, so he wanted me to carry him a lot, too.  Maybe next year he'll be better with walking :)  Virginia and I got lots of tokens for the rides and off we went.  The ride they loved the best was the haunted house.  It was so LAME!  The only thing spooky about it was that it was a little dark inside and there were a few spooky sounds, but for the most part, it was a car going through somewhat dark tracks and that was it.  BUT, Pearce LOVED it and wanted to go on it over and over.  We settled on two times.  They rode several more rides.  We also went to see the animals.  Again, there were lots of cute animals to see, but Pearce and Stella LOVED sitting in the bleachers and watch the cows being shown and judged :)  We finally convinced them to leave so that the mommies could get a funnel cake!  I feel like I am always prepared for anything and keep my bag well organized with must-haves for Pearce: change of pants, underwear, snacks, sippy, bandaids, and lots of sunscreen.  That day there wasn't a cloud in the sky and it was over 80 degrees out at 3:00.  While I was getting more tokens for rides, a man came up to me and asked if I had any sunscreen.  Of course I did! He was so relieved and said he and his wife had totally forgotten sunscreen for their baby and were about to just leave because they were so worried about him being in the sun. I gave him and his wife the sunscreen stick for the baby's face and then the spray for his arms and legs.  So glad I was prepared and could help them!  We spent several hours at the rodeo and before we left the kids had an ice cream cone and a bag of cotton candy....I mean, why not??

On Sunday, Chris and I took Pearce to an Easter Egg hunt at Bledsoe Park.  I know by now that Easter Egg hunts start right on the dot on time.  If you are a minute late, you miss it.  The hunt was at noon, so Chris and I decided to leave early so we could get Pearce Sonic for lunch and he could eat it at the park after the hunt.  Well, it took forever at Sonic.  We finally got his food, and there was no toy in the Wacky Pack.  Of course that was unacceptable for a 3 year old, so I had to wait for them to bring him his toy.  We got to the park with 15 minutes to spare only to find the two parking lots were all full and people were turning around to park across the street in a neighborhood.  I quickly found a spot to park and we walked as fast as we could to the park.  The hunt is sectioned off by age groups.  We found the 0-3 age group and got there with literally a few minutes to spare.  At this hunt, they just have a ton of candy all spread out on the grass and the kids just go pick it up and put it in their baskets.  I actually like this idea.  Well, I was stressed out that we were going to miss the hunt, but it was nice that Pearce didn't have to look at the candy for too long before being able to go out and get it.  They counted down and then let the kids go for it.  Man, Chris and I were so surprised at how cut-throat a lot of the parents were!  They were scooping up candy and putting it in their kids' baskets instead of letting the kids do it.  We didn't help Pearce at all, just told him to get what he wanted.  He definitely didn't get a bucket full, but he was totally happy with what he got.  Now, I did call out two older kids that had their buckets absolutely filled to the brim with candy.  I said to each of them, "Oh sweetheart, this hunt is for 0-3 year olds....are you 3 years old?"  One said he was confused and didn't know (yeah, right) and he dumped his candy out, and the other was apparently getting candy for his sister because the mom came up to him and took his hand to lead him away from this mean mommy :)  Sorry, 0-3 means ages 0-3!  Anyway, Pearce got what he wanted and then wanted to go sit down and start eating!  He alternated eating his candy and eating his lunch from Sonic.  After he ate, he played on the playground for a while and then we went home.  He had a lot of fun and Chris and I had fun watching him :)

Prince Charming and Fun with Mama and Papa

Last weekend, Pearce and I went to Dallas to see Nathan perform in his very first school play!  The play was Snow White and he originally auditioned for one of the dwarfs, but in true Nathan style, he got the part of Prince Charming!  So of course, we wouldn't have missed this for the world!  As soon as we got there, the party was on for Pearce :)  It is nonstop when Pearce and Nay Nay and Charlotte get together....well, poor Nay Nay....he would like to have a little rest time, but Pearce does not know the meaning of rest!  Nay Nay is such a good sport and they really all have so much fun together!  That night, they all got in Nathan's bed and watched a movie and then eventually fell asleep.  Both nights, Pearce got to sleep in Nay Nay's bed and he loved it!  Saturday was Nathan's performance.  He did SUCH a great job as Prince Charming!  I really was so proud of him for memorizing all of his lines.  PLUS, he was also cast as the Huntsman...two parts and lots of lines to memorize and he did awesome!  After the play, we all went back to Ashley's house for a taco lunch.  After Mama and Papa and Grandmother left, Ashley and I took the kids to the outlet mall to do a little shopping....I mean, the kids LOVE shopping :)  They did pretty well, but were definitely ready to get back to Ashley's house to play!

On Sunday, Papa came over to Ashley's to get Pearce and take him to stay with them for a few days.  Pearce was a little sad to leave Nay Nay and Charlotte and me, but soon, he was having the best time with Mama and Papa....and I was enjoying a nice, quiet drive home :)  I really enjoyed my time to myself.  I did lots of shopping and cleaned my house.  Mama and Papa were sure to send me lots of pics of my little guy.  Pearce went on golf cart rides, blew bubbles outside, went to Cabella's, Toys R Us, Dick's Sporting Goods, the park, and to see Grandma.  BUT, his favorite thing was going fishing!  They said he would ask to go fishing first thing in the morning and then would ask again in the afternoon.  He could not get enough of it!  Chris and I love that Pearce loves fishing so much!  I remember going fishing with Daddy when I was little and Chris remembers fishing with his grandfather.  Pearce loved catching those "twapees" aka crappies :)  By the end of the day, everyone was worn out.  I love the pic of Mama and Pearce asleep on the couch.  Papa went to the store and left Pearce with Mama.  He said when he got home, they were both out cold....Mom said she doesn't even remember who fell asleep first!  Of course, Pearce would take a nap for them and not for me!  Thank you Mama and Papa for taking such good care of Pearce and for giving me a much needed break!
