Easter 2016

We had a very nice, relaxed Easter here in Austin.  We normally go to Dallas for Easter, but this year, we decided to just stay home and do Easter with just the 3 of us.  Although I missed seeing everyone in Dallas, we really did have such a nice time here at home.  When I took Pearce to see the Easter Bunny, he asked him for the Snackeez cup.....a cup where you put a drink in it and then put a snack in the lid...gross :)  Pearce saw this on a commercial and thought it was the neatest thing ever, so he asked the Easter Bunny for it....even told him he could get it at Walgreens!  So, the Easter Bunny went to work getting all kinds of fun goodies and the Snackeez cup.  On Saturday, we colored our eggs which Pearce really had fun doing.  I also had a fun surprise for Pearce and got him some confetti eggs.  We went to the park and I brought the carton of confetti eggs and as soon as I smashed one on Pearce's head, he went crazy with them!  We smashed them on each other and had the best time.  Pearce saved one to smash on Daddy's head, too :)  On Easter morning, Pearce woke up and could not wait to see what the Easter Bunny had left him.  He was so happy with his bucket and and treats!  One thing he got was sidewalk chalk paint....Pearce had the best time painting on our sidewalk!  We then got dressed and went to church and then went to brunch at the club.  We had a really nice lunch and then came home, changed clothes, and Daddy took Pearce to practice his putting at the club....Pearce LOVES to go with Daddy to the "hit holes."

Pearce was supposed to bring Easter cookies for his class party, so he was hard at work decorating all 10 cookies!  At school, they had an Easter parade where the kids were supposed to wear some sort of "Eastery" hat.  I got Pearce some bunny ears and it was so cute to see him in his little parade.  He looked so cute in a shirt that used to be Nay Nay's!  Mimi was here at the time, so it was fun for her to get to see Pearce at school!

Spring Break 2016

Pops and Mimi asked if they could have Pearce during his Spring Break.  We didn't have anything planned and I was pretty worn out, so we said SURE!!  They drove to Austin to pick Pearce up and then left the next day to go all the way back to Little Rock.  Pearce could not wait to go....Chris was in the shower that morning and Pearce went to tell him bye, but Chris told him to wait until he got out of the shower....well, Pearce started crying and just wanted to go :)  They thought they would possibly split it up and just drive halfway back, but Pearce kept telling them to keep going and wanted to hurry up and get to their house, so they made it all in one day.  BUT, when they were about an hour away from LR, they ran into a big hail storm and there was no place for them to take cover, so they had to just pull over and hope the hail didn't shatter the windows!  Poor Mimi's car and windshield got totally cracked and her car had big dings all over it!  Pearce thought it was fun :)  Pops and Mimi kept Pearce busy and having fun the entire week.  They made forts, went to the park, went to Chuck E. Cheese, Altitude, saw Zootopia at the theater, and just played at home.  Pearce has gotten into the habit of sleeping he with us, so I wondered if I he would be ok sleeping in "his" room in LR...nope.....he slept on a blow up mattress in Pops and Mimi's room and one night he woke them up and asked if he could get in bed with them....which, of course, they said yes :)  I definitely did miss my little guy during the week, BUT, I totally took advantage of the downtime by getting a pedicure, going to lunch with friends, going to a movie, and just sitting in the recliner watching Downton Abbey.....LOVED being able to just take it easy!  By the time Sunday rolled around, though, I could not wait to hear that doorbell ring and hold my baby boy!    As soon as Pearce saw me, he pretty much jumped into my arms and we couldn't stop hugging.  I'm so thankful Pops and Mimi wanted to keep Pearce for the week and do all sorts of fun things with him.  I'm also thankful Pearce realized he missed me as soon as he saw me :)

I had to include these pics....Pearce got bitten on the cheek by a little boy at a bounce house and then a few days later, ran into one of his friends head on and got a black eye.  He was one beaten up little boy when he went with Pops and Mimi :)  In the pics, it looks like he's really sad, but he totally made those sad faces on purpose....he really loved looking at his black eye in the mirror and making sure it was still there.  I think he was pretty proud of it!

The fun begins with a cracked windshield on Mimi's car!

Thank you Pops and Mimi for giving Pearce a wonderful fun-filled week with you guys.  We love you!!

Happy Birthday GG!!

GG came last Thursday to celebrate her birthday with us.  Pearce couldn't wait for her to get here and kept looking out the window to see if she was here yet.  On Thursday, we just took it easy and played at home because Pearce had a bad cough and wasn't feeling his best.  On Friday we went to eat Mexican food at this place that has a really neat playground for kids.  GG and I had a nice time sitting and eating and visiting while Pearce played and played....he did eat his lunch, too!  Then we went  back home and just took it easy.  On Saturday, we went to Mt. Playmore to play.  Pearce LOVES this place.  It's a big indoor climbing place plus it has lots of video games where you can win points.  Pearce was so excited when we walked in and he was you could win "Marty" with points.  Marty is an inflatable martian that stands up by himself.  Pearce got one during GG's last visit when we went to the Science Museum, but sadly, Marty got popped when Pearce sat on him :(  Thankfully, Pearce got enough points that he could win Marty once again :)  Sunday was GG's birthday, so Pearce and I baked her a strawberry cake and frosted it with butter cream frosting.....and then Pearce added the finishing touches......sprinkles and candles!  We decided to get GG a piñata for her birthday since at the last birthday party we went to, Pearce didn't get a chance to hit the piñata before it fell....he was so sad about that!  So, we got a cupcake piñata and Pearce had so much fun filling it with candy.  I also took Pearce to Walmart to pick out some earrings for GG.  He actually picked out cute earrings and then he wanted to get her a necklace to go with them.  This is where I totally messed up and feel so bad.  He picked out a short necklace, but I knew there was no way GG would be able to put it on by herself, so I talked Pearce into picking out another pair of earrings.  He seemed fine with that, got them wrapped up and then gave her Pearce's present on Sunday.  Well, when he saw the necklace wasn't in her bag, he totally flipped out and got so upset and just cried and cried.  I felt so bad for him......no, it wasn't good that he had such a big fit, but he really was so upset that that dang necklace wasn't included in GG's gift.  Next time, I will let him pick out whatever he wants....lesson learned!  He did calm down eventually, and we had a nice dinner out at Kobe which Pearce loved!  GG also got two gift cards to go with her Walmart earrings :)  Oh, at dinner, Pearce was looking so forward to trying to catch rice in his mouth.  He was not shy about telling the chef that he wanted to try.  Our chef was so nice and gave Pearce several chances and he did it!  Everyone at our table thought he was so cute and well behaved and he ate very well, too!  At the end of dinner, they brought out a piece of chocolate cake with a candle and Pearce was not shy about telling GG that he was going to help her blow out the candle :)  On Monday, GG got to go with us to Gymnastics and see Pearce do all the neat things there.  After gymnastics, we went to the Aquarium and had fun looking at all the fish and birds.  Pearce and GG loved the bird room where birds sat on both of their hands...so cute!  After we walked all around, Pearce ended up in the gift shop and picked out a big stuffed snake!  He loves this snake!!  GG had to go home on Tuesday, but she got to walk Pearce to his classroom and then we went to Chapel to watch his class walk in and sing their songs.  Pearce was so excited to see us in Chapel.  Happy Birthday, GG!!!!  We are so happy you were able to come and celebrate your birthday with us!!!  We love you!!!
