Mama's Visit

Mama came for a quick visit on Thursday.  We always have a fun time together!  When Pearce woke up from his nap, Mama was here and ready to play!  He got to show Mama his golf cart and what a good driver he is, we played outside...a lot, played with the hose, went to the playground, Mama took Pearce to get ice cream and munchkins, we went to the mall and got new sandals plus rode the train, played at the bounce house, rode the carousel, and played at the play area.  Whew....we did a lot!  We also, took a little trip to the doctor's office on Saturday morning.  My poor little guy started running a fever on Wednesday night and it hasn't let up.  He would feel pretty good after I gave him Motrin, but when his fever would return he felt pretty puny.  I do want Pearce to start feeling better, but I have to admit, I have loved the extra snuggles I've gotten from him.  Today, all he wanted was for me to hold him and we just watched movies together.  I did love that Mom got to go to the doctor with us.  Pearce has always loved going to the doctor and Mom got to see that in action.  When we got there, he played in the waiting room and then when they called us back, Pearce just walked right in all by himself.  While we waited for the doctor, he gave Woody a check up and got some loving from Mama.  Then when the doctor came in, Pearce just sat on my lap and let her look him over.  He was wearing his new Toy Story shirt I had just gotten him and Pearce kept showing the doctor Woody and Bullseye on his shirt :)  After the doctor, we dropped off his prescription at Walgreens and then went to Starbucks to get a little bite while we waited.  Pearce just loved eating his danish and drinking his milk.  Mom and I kept talking about how good he was being.  Afterwards we went to the mall to get Pearce some new sandals and we just had to let him ride the choo choo train....and the carousel...and play at the bounce house....and play at the mall play area :)  Even though Pearce didn't feel his best, we still had so much fun with Mama here.  We love you Mama!!!

Bye Bye Bottle

Ever since Pearce was born, he took a bottle.  I remember giving him his very first bottle and I also remember giving him his very last bottle...just a few days ago at a little over 2 years old.  I never thought it was a big deal that Pearce still liked to take a bottle, but others did, which is fine, it was just a difference of opinion.  I knew his bottle was a comfort to him, and I just honestly did not think it was a problem...and I still don't.  I knew he would give it up when he was ready and did not feel rushed to take it away.  However, an opportunity presented itself, and I decided to take it.  Last weekend, I was in Dallas for a girl's weekend and then Pearce was going to stay a few extra days with Ashley and Nathan and I was going to take Charlotte back to Austin with me...we were switching kids for a few days :)  I asked Ashley if she would like to try to wean Pearce off of his bottle while he was there.  She was definitely up for the challenge!  We both agreed it would probably go better if she did it and not me.  Well, from Sunday to Wednesday, Ashley did not give him to his wanting a bottle.  She said at bedtime he would ask for it and cry a little, but she just said there are no more bottles, but he could have milk in a sippy cup.  Ashley said he really liked using Nathan's sippy cups, so that really helped.  She said it really wasn't as hard as we were thinking it would be.  I got Pearce back last Wednesday and I was a little worried about how bedtime would go with me.  I did go ahead and put all of his bottles in the attic so that there was no chance I would be tempted to give him one.  Well, Wednesday night was awful!  He screamed and cried and screamed and cried for his bottle.  It really broke my heart, but I knew I could not undo what Ashley had done.  I just rocked him and he finally calmed down and went to sleep.  Each day he has asked for his bottle, but has not had anymore crying fits for it.  So, no more bottles for my little guy.  It does make me sad, but I am so glad Ashley was the one to wean Pearce from it.  She did the hard work for me, and I am thankful for that.
