Mama's Visit

Mom left this morning and it was so hard to see her go.  I told her I sometimes wish I didn't love her so much....it would make saying goodbye so much easier!  As always, we had such a great time together!  Mom took care of Pearce the entire time she was here!  She got here Wednesday afternoon and we just played and loved on Pearce.

"Mama, did you miss me or something?"

Thursday, I got to go to a movie by myself while Mama took care of Pearce.  On my way home, I stopped and got him these cookies.  They are called Mum Mums and he LOVES them!  They pretty much melt in his mouth...and on his hands and clothes, but oh well!
"I can eat this?"

"Are you guys sure?"

"Hmmm....tastes kinda funny?"

"But I like it!!"

Mama is making Pearce's Christmas stocking by needlepoint and it is just gorgeous!!  We picked the stocking out together the last time she was here, so it was really neat to see how much she has finished!  You can be sure, Chris and I are going to fill this stocking with all kinds of goodies!!
How in the world does she do this????

LOVE these little soldiers...look at the feather on his hat!

His name looks perfect!

I love the train and doggie!

I just love it!  I can't wait to see it all finished!
Mom and I worked on getting Pearce to bed a little earlier...except most nights, he would conk out on Mama. I don't think Mom minded, though :)  She always gave him a bath, then took him for a stroll and by the time they got back, he would be so relaxed.

Pearce's new gadget is this mesh food thingy.  I put a frozen peach in and it locks and he can chew on it and suck the juice from it without getting big chunks.  Mama taught Pearce all about the game of peek-a-boo.  He thinks it is so funny!

Friday, we went out to lunch and did a little shopping!  We found the CUTEST children's store and Mama got Pearce the cutest outfit and shoes for fall.  We also went to the needlepoint store AND to Pier One!  It was a full day, but Pearce did great and we had fun together!

Saturday was my day of pampering.  Mom got me a massage and pedicure for my birthday, so I went to the spa and Mama took care of Pearce.  I had the best time.  I even took my makeup and hair stuff and took a shower there.  It was really nice!  That night, mom suggested we get sushi and let her try it.  She has never had it before.  I am the pickiest eater but I love sushi and I was hoping she would too!
Our feast!

Mom loved it!  Well, I don't know if "love" is the right word, but she did really like it.  She and I ate almost everything.

Somehow Mom came up with the idea to spruce up our back patio.  I have nice furniture, but the seat cushions were all torn and worn and the table top had started chipping....plus we didn't even have an umbrella for the table.  So Sunday, we got up and Mama was in charge of Pearce while I hosed down the patio and cleaned EVERYTHING!!  Then, I went to Wal Mart and got some spray paint and painted the top of the black table where it was chipped and then I painted another smaller table I had.  I really wish I had taken pictures of what everything looked like before, but by the time I thought about it, I was too focused on getting it all finished.  What's so funny is that Chris and I had talked about getting new outdoor furniture, but now we don't need to!  We just need to stain the deck and it'll be like new!
This was a little white table that was on the lower deck.  It was all chipped.  I went to Wal Mart and got green spray paint and VOILA!  It looks so cute now!  We got this little white flower pot and planted ivy and these little pink flowers.

Then it was time to go to Lowe's to get all of the cushions.  We saw these cushions and instantly loved them!  They go perfectly with the green table!  The next thing I want to do is get a cute outdoor rug to put down in this area :)

Then we found the chaise lounge cushion and the two cushions for my other two chairs.  This furniture is in perfect condition....it just needed the cushions!

Next, we got the umbrella and a few plants to finish everything off.  It is so amazing how everything came together so well.  I just happened to like that green paint color for the little table and then we found those cushions and it just all works!!

We loved sitting outside and enjoying the new look!  We even had breakfast outside this morning!  I know we will love sitting out here especially when the weather gets cooler.  Chris can be cooking out for us and Pearce and I will just sit and relax!

It sure is amazing what you can do in a day....with your mom babysitting.....and her credit card :)  Thank you Mama!!!!!!  I love my "new" patio and when I sit out there I will think about you!!!

  1. So much to see on this one!! I absolutely LOVE the stocking! It makes me long for the days when I used to do all kinds of needlework like that. I just don't have the time anymore, but did a lot when the boys were young. I'm not sure my vision is good enough anymore, either. Maybe I'll give it another try when I "go to the home!" LOL

I also love the new cushions and paint! I like that green, too. The flowers look great, too. I know you all will enjoy it when it cools off some. If that ever happens!! It was 102 in Little Rock today, and with all the water in the ground from Isaac's rain, it is like being in the Amazon jungle. The heat index was around 110 degrees! I was a sweaty mess and my makeup slid off my face before I could get my car loaded up for the trip to the airport.

    Love you all,

    Lora

  2. The Christmas stocking is precious! I love needlepoint and it looks so good. Can't wait to see it when it is done. I love the mum mum pictures, and your back patio looks great. It's amazing what a small change can do. You will have to tell me what children's store you went to so I can go if I have not been. See you soon!
