Last Monday Pearce got home from spending a week with Pops and Mimi....all by himself! Pops and Mimi asked if he could come to Little Rock and Chris and I said sure! It was like his own little summer camp :) What was fun was that Pops flew into Austin on Saturday the 8th and then they flew back to Little Rock together on Sunday. Pearce was so excited and was saying bye to me before we even got out of the car! When we got to the gate, Chris gave Pearce a big hug and kiss and then it was my turn. As I was hugging and kissing Pearce he said "Bye Mommy, see you in two months." Right then I knew he wasn't going to miss us too much, LOL!!! We watched them go through security and Pearce just looked so cute with his little backpack on his back and wheeling his own suitcase. I did get teary as we we left the airport but I knew they were all going to have fun....and so were we, so I got over it! Pops said Pearce was a perfect little traveler on the airplane and even said the lady behind them complimented Pearce on his nice behavior! Chris and I went out to eat and then did some birthday shopping for me :) I had several things planned for myself while Pearce was away. The first was on Monday, I got my carpets cleaned and then had a girls night out with my mommy friends. Then on Tuesday, I got my hair cut and highlighted. On Wednesday, I spent the whole day at home finishing a book and then just watching TV...I didn't even get out of my pajamas that day! The rest of the week, I just did some shopping and just really enjoyed a clean, quiet house :) Chris and I went to dinner another night, which was really nice. I told Mimi that I didn't think I should call to talk to Pearce until the end of the week. They sent me pictures and texts to let me know what they were doing and it was clear that Pearce was having lots of fun....and that Pops and Mimi might go broke, LOL! Chris called several times to check in but Pearce didn't even want to talk to him! A lot of my friends asked if I missed Pearce and I really did, but I also knew he was having so much fun and I knew Pops and Mimi were having fun, so I just let myself fully enjoy my time. I did Face Time with Pearce on Saturday night and oh my gosh, he talked a mile a minute. He told me all the fun things he had done and he also told me over and over that he loved me. He told me he missed me, but he wasn't sad at all, so that made me so happy! Now, by Sunday, I had done everything I wanted to do, the house was spotless, and this is when I really started missing Pearce. I really was ready for the living room to be a mess with toys, and I was ready to have my loud little boy back! They drove halfway on Sunday and spent the night in a hotel, which Pearce said was really fun. Then they got to Austin Monday early afternoon and I was seriously just pacing around the house until I heard the little knock on the door! When I opened the door, Pearce just got so excited and ran to me and I scooped him up and we both just hugged and kissed and hugged and kissed! My downtime was over because from that moment on, Pearce wanted me to be right by his side and I loved it!!! Pops and Mimi stayed a few extra days and we had fun going to the Thinkery and Little Land and even had a little birthday party for Mimi! Pops and Mimi, thank you so much for wanting to take care of Pearce for a week! I know Pearce had a wonderful time and it was a nice break for Mommy, too! Thank you for doing so many fun things with Pearce and thank you for loving him so much!!!! Here are a bunch of pictures that Pops and Mimi sent me during the week. I think they did every "kid" thing there was to do in Little Rock....Dinosaur exhibit, Chuck E. Cheese, swimming, Discovery Museum, playing outside, trampoline park, and eating out!
"Bye Mommy, see you in two months." How about just a week, Pearce :)
My group of "mommy" friends and I enjoying dinner out and my new haircut and color...love!!
Pops has his office upstairs and Pearce just LOVES to go in there. He pretends like he's working, plays with the stethoscope, and rearranges the figurines in there :)
When Pearce got home, it was back to being Mommy for me, and I was ready! So thankful I get to be this little guy's Mommy and thankful to have family that let's Mommy have a break, too :) These pictures are from when Pearce got back and we took Pops and Mimi to the Thinkery and also had a birthday party for Mimi! Oh, we also took Pops and Mimi to Bahama Buck's for a shaved ice and Mimi normally doesn't like dessert or cold things, but she LOVED her shaved ice and was the only one to eat it all!!
He is the best traveler I've ever seen! And I've seen a lot of kid travelers in my 22 years of flying almost every week. Most (including some adults!) were not as good. Glad he had a good visit. Love, GG
