Pearce started the Pre-K 4 year old class last week at Bethany. I'm so sad this is his last year at Bethany School! It has been such a great little preschool! I love that it's play-based and somewhat "old school" with their lessons and activities. Each teacher Pearce has had has been so great for his personality. This year, Mrs. B is Pearce's teacher. I went to the Parent's Night a few weeks ago and found out that Mrs. B is Tre's grandmother! Tre is a little boy who Pearce loved playing with and was in his class for 2 years. Tre moved at the end of last year to Colorado and Pearce still talk about Tre. When I came home and told Pearce, he was very excited! I knew that little fact would help Pearce feel more comfortable. During Meet the Teacher, Pearce was pretty shy about going into the classroom and meeting Mrs. B. He has gotten into this shy stage with everyone and everything it seems, so it takes a bit of time for Pearce to warm up. He has 6 friends in his class, so I was really happy about that! He's just going 2 days a week because I'm still not ready for him to give up his life to school.....we have too many other fun things to do during the week! I got Pearce a new lunch container to get him excited about starting school again. We practiced opening and closing it. Mrs. B. said that she wants us to give our kids a quick hug and kiss and then have the kids walk into the classroom all by themselves. I'm so glad this is her rule because I think it works best for Pearce.....he clung onto me quite a bit last year. We talked about this rule and I told Pearce that if he walks in like a big boy, we would go get ice cream when I picked him up. He agreed to that! Pearce was really excited the morning of his first day! He ate a good breakfast, got dressed with no fussing, let me take his picture, and then off we went! I was seriously doubting Pearce walking in by himself and not crying....but he did it! He did it very slowly, but did it! I was so excited to pick him up and hear all about it. Oh my gosh....Pearce could not stop talking about everything he did and how much fun he had! He actually said "Do I get to come back tomorrow?" On Thursday, drop off went smoothly again and he was so happy and talkative when I picked him up. YAY! Pearce loves preschool!!! On Saturday, it all went downhill when Pearce came down with a fever....he started feeling worse and worse and just had no energy and a high fever. I took him to the doctor on Monday because his throat looked so gross....I just knew it was strep. But, he tested negative for strep and it was just a nasty virus. He had to miss school on Tuesday, which I was a little bummed about only because they were going to be talking about their names and why their name was chosen....Pearce's full name is very special to us, so I was sad Pearce wasn't get to participate in that. We did talk about it, so maybe Pearce will be able to tell Mrs. B about his name tomorrow. Thankfully, he woke up Tuesday fever- free, so we just took it easy Tuesday and Wednesday. I'm so excited to see what all Pearce learns this year!

My poor, sick baby :( Although I felt so bad that Pearce felt so bad, I loved taking care of him and just sitting on the couch snuggling.....no household chores, no errands to run, no activities to go to....just rest.
Pearce said his eyes stung with the light, for some reason, so he wore his sunglasses when watching a show :)
How gross is his throat?! No wonder he just wanted to eat jello and yogurt.
Ms. Elizabeth and Brice dropped of a treat for Pearce.....he was feeling much better by this time! 'Tis the season for germs, I guess!
