We adopted Daisy in May from a family in Dallas. They were overwhelmed with having a puppy, a 3 year old, and a baby on the way. When we saw the ad for her, we instantly fell in love and were convinced we were the only ones that could give her a good home :) We brought her home and quickly realized her previous family had done nothing with her...no potty training, manners training, or even just giving her attention. She is the sweetest thing...just wants to be loved. Whenever I love on her, she does this funny grunting sound as if to say, "That feels sooooo good." We first began with potty training. It took a while as well as lots of accidents, but she got the hang of it and is now fully potty trained. I then signed her up for dog training. We went to the same place we trained Otis, Hearts and Paws. We went every Tuesday night for an hour and we also worked with her on homework. She definitely doesn't quite have the attention span Otis does, but overall, she did great during class and with her homework. Last night was graduation. Each dog had to do a total of 10 commands (in front of everyone) in order to receive their certificate. I was so nervous about this. She did the commands at home, but in front of others, she gets easily distracted. It was our turn to go and I was just praying she would do everything (sit, stand, down, stay, come, high five). We did all of those commands a total of 10 times and she did great!!! Everyone was especially impressed with "high five." I was soooo proud and relieved! All of the dogs did great! We will keep practicing what we learned and probably do another class at some point. I'm proud of my girl!! Here she is after class with her certificate. She is dog-gone tired!!!!!
Way to go Daisy!! And, I love the new look on your blog, super cute ;)
