This and That

First of all, I can't believe we are 10 days away from this little guy being 2!!!!!  Oh my goodness.  The preparations have begun!  I had no idea Pearce would be soooo into Toy Story, but he happened to watch it during Christmas at Mama and Papa's house, and man, he has not stopped talking about Buzz and Woody!  Needless to say, he is now going to have a Toy Story party!  More on that later.  We have been very busy and I just wanted to put a few random pics up.  These first two might just be my new favorites of Pearce.  First of all, I think he looks ADORABLE in these little overalls Mama got him. Second of all, that balloon is STILL floating around our house...he got it last weekend from Old Navy when we went to get him new pants.  He LOVES that balloon.  Third of all, I just love it when he first wakes up and his eyes are a little puffy.  This was his first day back to school and we were up early to get all ready!  Pearce hardly ever stands still for me to actually take his picture, but on this morning, he cooperated and I just think he looks so dang cute!!!!!

Last week we went to The Toybrary for finger painting.  I thought Pearce would love it, but he really didn't go crazy with it.  He painted a bit, but then was finished, asked to wash his hands, and was off to play :)  I think he would have liked it better with a paint brush.  I think it's so cute how Pearce likes to sleep on his tummy with his knees all tucked under him...and BB in his mouth :)  I was blessed with one great sleeper.  I mean, this boy LOVES to sleep.  Not only that, but he is so content to just BE in his crib.  He will lay in there and play and talk for 30 minutes or more if I let him.  Last night, he went to bed at 6:30 (The Golden Globes were on!) and I had to wake him up at 8:30.  This past weekend, we were all lazy and Pearce ended up sleeping until 9:45ish!!!  That is very rare, but he honestly does not wake up on his own until at least 8:00, but usually 8:30.....and still takes at least a 3 hour afternoon nap and sometimes 4 if I don't wake him up!

We had a fun play date with Claire and her mommy, Heather.  Claire is sooo sweet and really lets me hold her now.  Pearce had no problems playing babies with Claire, but really loved this sand table Heather brought out!  The sand is a different type of sand where it actually sticks together and doesn't get everywhere like regular sand.  Really cool!  We've also had fun playing outside.  I had to tell our lawn guy, Mr. Dennis, that we have a new lawn guy now :)

And finally.....Pearce loves to give all of us check ups and especially shots!  We may have a future doctor in the making...he loves his medical kit, loves going to the doctor, and LOVES taking medicine!  Pearce had a bad sinus infection a week ago and had to take a strong and bad tasting antibiotic.  He's always been really good about taking any other medicine so I worried this was going to be a 10 day struggle....NOPE!  Mama told me to just make sure I give him an M&M for taking the medicine each time...well, that was all it took!  He did his antibiotic and nose spray each day like a champ!

Christmas 2013

We had a wonderful, crazy, busy Christmas this year!  Pearce was definitely spoiled by all!  Pearce and I went to Dallas a day early and played with Mama and Papa, Auntie Ashy, Nay Nay, and Charlotte.  He loved helping to make cookies with Mama!  Then we drove to Little Rock to begin our Christmas celebration!  We met GG at the All Aboard Restaurant which Pearce loved.  Little trains would run overhead and bring your food to you....definitely a great restaurant to keep him in his seat!  Chris met us in Little Rock on the 23rd.  On Christmas Eve, Chris cooked us an AMAZING dinner then Pearce got to open his presents from his grandparents.  He got a doctor set, an art desk, a new trike, Hug Me Elmo, a driving toy, a farm set, clothes...including a Razorback jacket and a hat that he would not take off, a remote control car, and TONS of love!!!  On Christmas morning, he slept in until almost 9 and then got to come downstairs to see what all Santa brought him.  Santa left all of his gifts in a neat toy sack and had lots of airplanes all lined up for this little boy to enjoy.  Santa brought him the vacuum had had been asking for, a tool set, blocks, and lots of goodies in his stocking.  It was so much fun seeing him open his presents and be excited about all of them.  This Christmas season was so much fun with Pearce.  I already can't wait until next year!  On the 26th, we went to Dallas for the weekend to continue our celebrations.  We celebrated Chris's birthday with a dinner out with Ashley and Wayne while Mama and Papa kept the kids.  In Dallas, Pearce got a lawn mower from Mama and Papa, which he absolutely loves, and a train set which he absolutely loves, too!  I don't think he got a single toy that he does not have fun playing with.  Auntie Ashy took care of Pearce while Mama and I took Nathan and Charlotte to see Frozen....that was really fun especially since the movie was really cute!  Thank you to everyone for making Pearce's second Christmas so special!!  When we got back to Austin, Pearce and I surprised Daddy by making him a birthday cake...his favorite...Strawberry cake with buttercream frosting.  Pearce loved "helping" me make it and had a great time putting the candles in, sprinkling the sprinkles on top, and helping Daddy blow out the candles.  We even gave him some practice for his upcoming birthday by putting a candle in his piece of cake and letting him blow it out....over and over and over and over again :)

Holiday Fun!

Pearce has been one busy boy this holiday season!  Aside from going to see Santa and going to different neighborhoods to look at "yights," we have been on a Steam train, done holiday crafts with his little friends, and visited Austin's new children's museum....which isn't really holiday related, but it was still fun!

The Austin Steam Train Polar Express was so fun!!  We went with three other couples and their kids and it was perfect because we rented a party room and the kids could walk around, play, eat snacks, look out the windows, and just have fun being together.  Pearce wore his Christmas pj's and we made jingle bell necklaces for everyone...Pearce still wants to wear his necklace :)

Pearce and I got together with some girls from my play group to do a few Christmas crafts.  One week we made snow globes using peanut butter containers.  We filled them halfway with water, then put a squirt of dish soap in, food coloring, and glitter.  And voila!  Shake it up to see bubbles and glitter, stack it, roll it....throw it :)  That day we also made gumdrop trees using styrofoam cones, toothpicks and gumdrops.  Pearce really concentrated on this one.  The next week we decided to make gingerbread houses out of graham crackers and milk cartons.  This was definitely messy, but oh so fun!  The kids almost ate more than they put on the houses.  Pearce was in heaven with all of the frosting and candy!!!

Last week, I took Pearce to our new children's museum, The Thinkery.  We had the best time!!  So many fun things to do.  Pearce's favorite was the water play area.  We did this at the end and I'm so glad I brought an extra change of clothes because he was soaked!  In the last picture, he was a little upset with me that I made a big bucket of water splash him.  I thought he would love that part...he didn't :(
