Easter 2013, Part 1 (14 months old)

Our Easter didn't go quite as planned, but we still had a wonderful Easter weekend.  Chris and Wayne's grandmother passed away, so they went to Arkansas to be with their family and to attend the funeral.  Pearce was just getting over being sick, so we decided it would be best for us to go on to Dallas and stay with my parents and to also help them with Nathan and Charlotte since Ash went to the funeral as well.  I was so glad I took Pearce to see the Easter bunny early in the week.  I just knew he would cry...well, he was o.k. for about 5 seconds and then totally lost it!

This was the picture package I ordered....I loved his Easter outfit!  I'm so glad he wore it for the Easter Bunny since we ended up not going to church on Sunday because Chris and Wayne weren't back yet.

After we visited the Easter bunny, we went on the train ride :)

So, we left to go to Dallas on Thursday afternoon.  I spent the night with Ashley that night and then after she left to go to Arkansas, I headed over to Mama and Papa's house with Nathan and Charlotte.  As soon as we got there, they wanted to make an orange julius which Pearce loved!  Then we went to see Grandma, go to the park, and then get yogurt!

We all had fun playing at Grandma's.  Pearce loved looking at these little figurines she has sitting on her windowsill.  I'm not sure what they are, but I do know they are valuable and just like Nathan and Charlotte, Pearce learned to look but not touch.

We had such a nice visit with Grandma which I am so thankful for because this past Monday she fell and broke her hip :(  She had surgery today and is doing great!  We love you Grandma and know you will feel better soon!

After we left Grandma's we went to the park and played and played!

We ended our outing with a trip to the yogurt place!

Nathan and Charlotte got to rent a movie to watch in their room and Cookie decided to join them, too!

We had a big thunderstorm, so the next morning, Nathan and Charlotte found a mud puddle to play in :)

Pearce had so much fun being with his cousins.  Nathan and Charlotte are soooo sweet and helpful to Pearce.

On this evening, the light was so pretty outside, so we decided to take a few pictures.  This is the chair that Ashley and I had when we were babies, so it was fun seeing Pearce sit in it.  He loved that chair!  He also LOVES his brown blankie.  We had a close call when we were shopping one day.  I let Pearce take his blankie with him in the stroller and all of a sudden I noticed he didn't have it.  So we all had to back track to try to find the blankie....mom and I were really worried we wouldn't find it, but THANK GOODNESS we found it in the first store we went to just laying on the ground in one of the aisles!

Pearce learned to say "Cookie" while at Mama and Papa's house!  He loves all dogs, but Otis, Daisy, and Cookie are his favorites!  Cookie is the sweetest dog ever.  Cookie loves Pearce and she also loves that Pearce likes to give her part of his dinner :)

How in the world did we get so lucky with this little guy???  WORTH. THE. WAIT. FOR SURE!!!

Sweet Charlotte.  She let me take tons of pictures of her.  I love her little smile!

One night, Papa took us all on a golf cart ride.  It really is a little adventure when you drive around the golf course because there are so many trees and ponds and bridges to look at.  We took a little break to sit on this bench and watch the ducks in one of the ponds.  I love this picture!

Next Up:  Coloring Easter Eggs!

The Easter Egg Hunt We Missed

On Sunday, I took Pearce to the Elizabeth Milburn Park for their annual Easter egg hunt.  It was from 2-4.  Well...we got there at 2:15 and totally missed the hunt :(  Apparently they started it right at 2:00.  It is almost impossible for me to get anywhere right on time these days!  Plus we had to park WAY far away and walk because it was so crowded.  Oh well....I did get some cute pictures of him with his Easter bucket, though!  I ordered it from Etsy and I think it turned out so cute!! We met Heather and her family...who also missed the hunt, too!  It was sooo cold and windy on this day, we strolled around for a little bit and then left.  Next year I will know to get there EARLY :)

"Here Claire, I will share with you!"

Friends

Pearce had a fun day with two of his sweetest friends today!  First, we met Brice and his mommy, Elizabeth, at Big Bounce.  It has a pretty big area of bounce "thingies" for toddlers and it's free for kids under 2...win, win!  Elizabeth and I had to resort to being kids ourselves and climb in with the babies, but, we all had fun!  At first Brice was a little unsure of it because he had never been in one, but it did not take long for him to start exploring.  He and Pearce both had a great time together!  Pearce took a LONG nap afterwards :)  Elizabeth and I said we'll have to come here a lot BEFORE summer break starts....I'm sure this place is a mad house during the summer.

You can tell from this picture that Pearce was very excited about this place!!

"Hey Brice, you're my friend and I really like playing with you..."

"Ok, gotta go!"

After Pearce's LONG nap, we had a visit from Gabriel, and his mommy, Lindsay.  Pearce and Gabriel played so well together.  Gabe is almost 2 and it was so fun to hear him talk and be a big boy.  One time he got Pearce's hand and said, "Come on Pearsh!"  Haha!  I gave them each a box of these yogurt covered raisins, and man, did they both love them!  Gabriel is getting ready to be a big brother to Heidi Anne in just a few months which is very exciting!

Here they are eating their raisins.  They were really concentrating on getting every last one out of their boxes!

Today was such a fun day!

Mama's Visit (13 months old)

Mama came to visit us on Thursday.  We were soooo excited!  When she got here we went to the park to play.  We had fun watching Pearce play and explore.  Actually, he had fun just watching the other kids, too.  The park we went to has a big playscape and we found a little nook where Pearce just kept crawling up and down the step and then would just sit and watch the other kids.  It was a great day.  Then we went to one of my most favorite places to eat...Luby's!  I've always loved Luby's and luckily Pearce does too!  Friday, we got Pearce dressed in this cute outfit.  Of course we had to take a ton of pictures of him before we could go anywhere!

"Mama, you always hug me so tight!"

"Mama, you know what, I don't think you need those glasses."
"Let me just get those things off."
"There....much better!"
After our photo session, we headed off to Georgetown to eat at Monument Cafe and then to walk around the square.  We had such a fun time just walking around and being together.  Pearce was a good little boy in the restaurant.  After that, we went to Sandy's Shoes to find Pearce some cute sandals!  We found two cute pairs of shoes for the little guy.  They were so helpful at the shoe store.  I will have to always go there for his shoes!

"Man, that lime is sour!"
Mom got me started on this paint.  It's called Annie Sloan Chalk Paint.  I have never painted with it before, but it was sooo easy!  A little goes a long way, it dries super fast, and then you put this wax on over it, buff it to give it shine, and you're done!  My first project was the entry way table.  I really wish I had taken a picture of it before, but it was just plain black.

After two coats of paint.  I chose "Duck Egg Blue" and LOVE how it turned out!

The table was so easy and I had more paint left, so I decided to paint this old picture frame.  I love this picture.  It was Mama Pearce's and I remember it being in her breakfast room.  I've always loved it and when she passed away, I knew I wanted it for my kitchen.  Again, totally wish I had taken a before picture, but the frame was just a plain brown wooden frame.  I painted two coats and then decided to distress it.  All I had to do was use a damp cloth and gently rub off parts of the paint until I got the distressed look that I wanted.  The paint is water based, so this was super easy too!  My next painting project will be to paint my desk in our room and I have another frame I want to paint, oh, and an old spice rack, too!  Mom and I kept looking around my house finding things I could paint!

Pearce loves to play with Daisy's crate door latches.  He's just about got it figured out how to open it.  You can see his new little navy sandals.  LOVE those!!!  On Saturday, we went to the Domain and ate at Gloria's and then walked around a bit.  It was such a pretty weekend to be outside!  We also went to pick out fabric for my new curtains mom is going to make me for my dining room!  We found the most perfect fabric and I can't wait to hang them!  It seems now, whenever mom comes, we end up doing home improvement projects...so fun!

After we got home, we went to Pearce's favorite place...the backyard.  It was such a warm day out that we decided to let him play with the hose.  Then I filled up this bucket with water and put some toys in there and just let him splash and play.  He loved it!  He ended up getting soaking wet, but oh well, he had the best time!

Mama cuddling with her baby :)

Mama left today :(  We can never say goodbye without crying.  I love it when she comes to visit, but hate it when she leaves.  We did have the best time, though.  Pearce and Daisy were sad to see her go, too.  Daisy LOVES mom.  Mom is a good sport with her little quirks :)

Mom, we had so much fun with you!  Pearce loves his Mama!  Thanks for everything....now get to work on those curtains :)
