Today, Pearce had his 2 month check-up. I was so excited to see what his stats were, but I was dreading the first set of shots. I took the first two pics while we were waiting for Dr. Sperling. Pearce was just kicking and smiling and so happy! Dr. Sperling came in and he really put on a show for her. It was like he was saying, "Look what I can do!" He just kept kicking and smiling. He is such a happy baby!
2 month stats
Weight: 11 lbs, 13 oz (45th percentile)
Height: 23 inches (50th percentile)
Head: 39 1/4 cm (50th percentile)
Then it was time for his shots. I knew it would be hard to watch, but I was not going to cry...that would be stupid. Every baby has to get shots, they all cry, then they're o.k....right? Well, the nurse came in with a tray of 3 shots and an oral vaccine. She gave Pearce the oral vaccine first, then told me it was time for the shots. I layed him on the table and he looked right at me and started smiling. The nurse told me to hold his hands because he might get scared when she gave him the first shot. As soon as she said that, tears welled up in my eyes. She gave him the first shot and he just totally lost it...as did I. I've never heard him cry like that. Then she gave him two more in the other thigh :( He could not catch his breath because he was crying so hard. I scooped him up and just held him...as tears ran down both of our faces. It was so hard for me to see my baby boy in pain! The nurse told me I should feed him to make him feel better. Well, I totally wish I had thought of that before because I didn't have a bottle ready, so I had to put him down while I fixed a bottle. He cried even more then! I finally got his bottle ready and I just held him, fed him, and cried. Daddy is coming with us next time for sure!! After we left the doctor's office, we stopped at Target to get some Tylenol just in case he started to run a fever. I can tell he doesn't feel good. He has had a slight fever and has slept most of the day. I'm not looking forward to the next round of shots!
